Growing up in a musically inclined family with a spiritual background, Jonathan James Davis has always been destined to be a great musician. As the youngest of three children from Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Davis, Sr., the drums became of special interest to him at an early age.
During his 8th through 12th grade years, Jonathan won six awards at the FBA Solo & Ensembles, with all of them receiving a superior rating at a district level. While attending Carol City Senior High School in Miami, Florida, he was awarded the Most Outstanding & Most Dedicated Freshman, Most Outstanding Percussionist, as well as Most Outstanding Jazz Musician. He later won first place in a Drum Competition from Mars Music 2001 in Miami, Florida, as well as the Guitar Center Drum Off in Orlando, Florida in 2003.
In the summer of 2000, Jonathan toured South Durban Africa as a drummer for the greater Miami Boys Choir and toured the Philippines in 2004 with an international ministry called A.L.A.R.M. His later toured in Ethiopia, January 29th through February 9, 2005, where he performed in front of more than 250,000 thousand people.
Jonathan has performed with many famous professional recording artists such as the Late Rev. James Moore, Rev. Timothy Wright, Twinkie Clarke – Terrell, Dr. Marvin Sapp and Kim Burrell. His performance experiences have welcomed him to studio recordings as well as live recordings. Jonathan completed his first album “Drums, Not Easy” in December of 2004. On November 5, 2005, Jonathan began his first modeling engagement for Style Magazine in the Tallahassee Democrat. The next year, 2006, Jonathan would launch his first business, Drumming On The Edge, LLC, where taught and wrote music for drums.
In January of 2007, Jonathan along with other musicians at Allaire Studios in New York, came together for the Gospel Chops, Shed Session Vol. II DVD. Jonathan toured as a clinician with Gospel Chops and was a drummer for Troika Entertainment along with other musicians. Also in 2007, he signed a lucrative endorsement contract to play Paiste Cymbals exclusively. In September 2011, Jonathan contributed to the soundtrack of the blockbuster movie release Contagion.
Jonathan is an accomplished musician who has performed across the globe. He has completed more than 25 tours around the world within (2008-2019) the cruise ship industry for NCL, RCCL, Holland America, Azamara, Celebrity Cruises and Carnival Cruises. He is the owner of JDW – Jonathan Davis World. Jonathan writes original music from the bass guitar, one of the instruments played by his father. Jonathan’s future goals include, the completion of several Drum Method Books, Performing as a drum clinician, writing & performing with JDW Band and writing Vocal music for JDW Singers. As Jonathan Builds the JDW brand, he certainly don’t mind partnering with other music instrument making Companies such as Gretsch, DW, Aquarian drum heads, & Sennheiser just to name a few.
